Hey you!  Yes, you… Super Mom!  Let’s talk about Self-Care.  You know, the concept that often gets pushed to the bottom of your to do list.  I get it, life gets in the way.  But, here’s the thing, self-care isn’t selfish.  Self-care is absolutely necessary.  Let’s chat a little bit as to why taking care of yourself isn’t just a luxury, but rather a necessity.   Grab your cup of coffee (or a cocktail if that’s your thing) and let’s get into it!

First of all, talk about the myth that self-care is selfish. Really? As moms, we wear so many different hats—caretaker, cook, uber driver, career woman, and the list goes on. It’s exhausting, right? So why on earth would taking a little time for yourself be considered selfish? Spoiler alert: it’s not.

When was the last time you tried pouring from an empty cup? Not exactly effective, is it? The truth is, you can’t take care of others if you’re running on fumes yourself. That’s where self-care comes in. It’s about filling up your own cup so you have more to give to those you love.

Now, I know what you’re thinking… “But I don’t have time for self-care!” Trust me, I hear you and totally get it. Between work, kids, chores, and everything else, finding time for yourself can feel impossible. But here’s the secret: self-care doesn’t have to be time-consuming or even something bit. It can be as simple as taking a few deep breaths, going for a walk around the block, or indulging in your favorite TV show.

Oh, and let’s not forget the mental health benefits of self-care. Taking time for yourself can do so much for your stress levels, mood, and overall wellbeing. It’s like hitting the reset button in your brain!

So, the next time you find yourself feeling guilty for taking a little time for yourself, remember this: self-care isn’t selfish, it’s necessary. Mama, take that bubble bath, read that book, or have some cookies in peace. You deserve it, and your family will thank you for it too. After all, a happy mom is a better mom. I wish I had learned this much earlier in life!  Please remember to take care of yourself.
