Chrissy had her boudoir session a few months back. Sorry, I didn’t have the chance to get her blog posted sooner but better late than never! Chrissy is a writer, storyteller, adventurer and improviser. She likes to see the world in shades of rainbow, instead of black and white or shades of gray. This beauty lives in Wheaton with her husband of nearly four years (partner of nearly ten) and their sweet boxer shepherd dog, Nia. In her spare time she loves to read and write, perform improv, sing, cook and play tabletop games. A nerd at heart she’s also a huge Disney addict and always adding new fandoms to her collection. She visits Disney World as much as possible and loves playing dress-up/cosplaying.
When I have sessions I like to ask my clients to tell me a little bit about their session. Here’s a little bit right from Chrissy herself!
Why did you choose to do a session?
“I have wanted to do a session for years. I have grown to love my body in all its glory, and even though I absolutely have days when I don’t love every part of my body, I try to remind myself of everything it does for me on a daily basis. The session was 100% for me. I wanted to see myself as sexy and strong and confident, and I want to remember the self-confidence I have in my own skin, even when I’m hovering near my highest weight. “
How did you feel going into your session?
“I was nervous and excited. I didn’t know what to expect. I knew that Sarah was incredibly kind and body-positive, and I was excited to work with her. But I was still nervous. I was afraid I hadn’t brought the right outfits or didn’t have the right look, because my style is pretty much the opposite of conventional. I even warned Sarah that I mostly had bright colored items because I had recently purged most of the black from my wardrobe…and I was concerned.”
How did you feel afterwards?
“I felt as if I had worried for nothing. I felt gorgeous and confident. I knew there were some really fun, beautiful photos coming, and I couldn’t wait to see them. I left feeling sexy and strong as if I could take on the world. I loved chatting with Sarah during the session. She’s kind and helpful, giving you tips on how to pose to best accentuate your shape and make your best features pop. You can’t help but have fun playing dress-up while Sarah smiles and beams with pride when she captures something she loves. It’s pure magic. “
How did the session change the way you feel about yourself?
“Every time I look at my photos, I remind myself that I am the girl in those photos. Sarah captured every piece of me. When I’m having one of those days where I just feel down, I look at myself through Sarah’s lens, and I’m reminded that I love the woman I’ve become. “
Anything else you’d like to say about your session or to encourage other women to do a session?
“Do it. And then do it again. Sarah gets to know you during the session and, through her photography, shows you how the world sees you. “
